The  Old Market Inn Art Studio:                                                                                                                              After many years of painting in the kitchen and garden shed I made a commitment to my “job “and purchased a house with a wonderful 3 car garage space in the back garden. Thanks to the vision and practical skills of my partner, Ian, I now have a magnificent place in which to paint, display my work and teach art.  It is light-filled, with views to the garden, close to home (but not too close), and it has plenty of space and storage.  I am now much more productive and the studio is a great place to hold workshops and teach art.  Every artist that visits here is envious of my perfect working environment.  The studio is open to the general public most afternoons from 1 to 5pm, an arrangement that ensures that I keep regular working hours.                                                                                                            In the studio I have my own work on display and for sale as well as that of other artists such as watercolourist Ev. Hales and  pastellist Joy Durran.  Both artists use Port Fairy as their main subject and so their work is of great interest to visitors to the town.  I am always happy to stop work and chat and discuss the process of making art.  I love talking to other artists and swapping ideas and usually learn as much from others as they do from me.  Being “open to the public “ in both senses of the words means that some of the isolation of my profession is alleviated.  It also provides the opportunity for people to commission work directly.                                                                                                                                       The studio is situated at the rear of the “Old Market Inn” circa 1865.  A magnificent bluestone, double-story building with a fascinating history. The building faces William Street and the rear of the building can be seen from my studio.  The actual entrance to the studio is off Regent Street (look out for my sandwich–board) opposite the Glass Blowing Studio “Eclectic  Designs” and very convenient for the visiting art enthusiast.  Both studios are within easy walking distance from the centre of town and the WHALEBONE GALLERY, PORT FAIRY DAY SPA, and JULES WINE AND COFFEE BAR as well as some excellent accommodation options (see Links).                                                                                     With the help of the famous PORT FAIRY ART WALK MAP (available from the Port Fairy Visitor Information Centre) THE OLD MARKET INN STUDIO is easy to  locate.  Off street parking and access for the disabled is also provided at the Studio.
